CEO Nancy Brown: Improving our nation’s health, community by community
When the American Heart Association set an ambitious goal for improving Americans’ cardiovascular health by 2020, it was worded very carefully.
The goal is not merely “to help all Americans.” It reads: “to help all Americans.”
The emphasis matters because there is no one-size-fits-all way of beating heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 4 killers of Americans. Part of the solution is figuring out which segments of our population are most at risk and finding the best ways to meet their needs.
