Progress Against Heart Disease and Stroke

Death rates for heart disease and stroke have maintained a steady decline over the decades for both U.S. men and women, based on an American Cancer Society analysis of trends in mortality. Between 1969 and 2013, overall death rates fell nearly 68 percent for heart disease and 77 percent for stroke.
