La probabilidad de ser diagnosticado de diabetes en algún momento de la vida era de 1 en 4 para los varones hispano-estadounidenses, y 1 en 3 para las mujeres hispano-estadounidenses, nacidos a finales de los años ochenta. Para los años 2000, esas cifras aumentaron a 1 en 2 tanto para los varones como para las mujeres.
